And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: “Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth.” They said: “Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, – while we glorify You with praises and thanks (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners) and sanctify You.” He (Allah) said: “I know that which you do not know.” (Al-Baqarah 2:30)
-The Angels were able to speak with certainty that man will spread mischief and shed blood if man was allowed to roam in earth with a free will so they wanted to know ‘what was the hikmah behind putting man (with a free will) on earth’.
-The Angels used Qiyaas (Analogy) of the Jinns who were here 2000 years before man and created mischief/bloodshed, using the Analogy of the Jinns’ free will compared to Man’s free will and came to the conclusion: that Man will misappropriate their free will as the Jinns had done before.
-Allah (SWT) replied ‘ Surely I know that which ye know not’. Allah (SWT) said, ‘I will not leave man in the lurch, I will not abandon man I will sent Prophets and Messengers and books of guidance’ ie. among man there will be good people as well. This is the meaning of the statement ‘ I know that which you know not’.
And on the Night of Power, the Angels ask the permission of Allah SWT to come down to earth to be among us and witness the majesty of our praise for Him. MashaAllah!
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. (Al-Qadr 97:4)
