We all go through that phase, and none of us can deny it. We will always love animated movies, no matter how old we grow and how mature we become. Animations always seem to bring out the kid in us. It’s like a whole new world, a new fantastic point of view. While they were fascinating when we were younger, it is only now that we realize the important lessons of life that these movies have been trying to teach us all along.
They teach you that if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true. Which is pretty much right. We just shouldn’t give up on our dreams because obstacles come in our way. We have to stand strong and believe in ourselves, work towards our dreams. For them to happen; we not only need to will them to happen, we need to make it happen. I know every mile, will be worth my while, when I go the distance. Nothing worth getting comes easy. After all that hard work, when you realize what you have gained, it makes it all worthwhile. You appreciate it more than if you had obtained it free. So even though the road seems long, hard, and rough; at the end lies your pot of gold.
What about the lessons of friendship that we’ve learnt through these movies?! Almost every movie plays out a huge role on friendship. So if we stick together and we see it through, you’ll realize that you’ve got a friend in me. Makes you wonder how we form friendships, and how we know if they are true or not. How we classify them. Depends on how much they’ve seen through together with you, how much you’ve stuck together, how much of each other’s life is entwined. You’ll then realize that when you’re with the ones you love, you’d give up the world for them, and that they’ll be there for you. Life becomes hakuna matata, because you know you are safe, and that no one can touch you.
They teach us the importance of being ourselves, loving who we are, and standing up for ourselves with pride in our hearts. If you wear a mask, you can fool the world, but you can’t fool your heart. Be yourself. Let others see you for who you really are. If they don’t like you, it’s their loss, there is no beauty is similarity, but only in differences. So enjoy the personality that you’ve been given and be your unique self. You will find acceptance, if not at home then somewhere beyond the sea, somewhere waiting for you. Don’t be in a rush to hide you, cherish the freedom you have to be yourself. It might be difficult, but at the end of the day, all we have is us. So let’s love us first, and let others love us second.
You can own the earth, and still all you’ll own is earth, until you can paint with all the colours of the wind. Do you know the value of what you take or does your greed blind you? Important things in life don’t completely revolve around money. Love, family, food, shelter, respect, kindness…these are few of the important things in life. Understanding of needs is crucial. Wants never outweigh needs. Another message passed on by these movies is unity. Different kinds of people living together without much conflict, different animals, different toys, different personalities, because at the end of the day, we are all Gods creations and all we want is, one world united singing this song of the heart, peace.
Don’t we miss those days long gone when life was so simple and we actually thought that all that glitters is gold, only shooting stars break the mold! Now we know better, we are all shooting stars, just aiming for different directions; and all that glitters is probably trouble. Yet, we still make our mistakes, living our life along the way. Making it through however we can, learning new things every time there is a bend in the road. Thinking for ourselves, and deciding what would be best for us. Life is a highway, filled with many enriching experiences, interesting strangers, and common friends. It is unique yet similar for all of us, entangled and separated.
So where do these movies fall under in our lives? Under bare necessities of course. Why? Because, they prepare us for the journey ahead. They give us an idea of what to expect from this world. True, some of them are so unrealistic, but what we need to take out of them is the main theme, the point of the movie. It doesn’t matter if it is shown through the use of animals, or through the eyes of toys, if we can recognize the reason of the movie, we can see that that too does happen in our world. And most probably we would have witnessed it happening right in front of our eyes, no matter which part of the globe you come from. At the end of the day, we are human, and we all like to move it, move it.
Never be too old to watch these movies, be it with your friends, co-workers, or eventually with your kids, and even your grandkids. Let them always bring out that carefree kid in you, but don’t forget to take in that valuable lesson that’s hidden between those cheery lines. Let life lead you on the path your supposed to take; you’ll find your home, where the dream takes you.
